Ari Dublion aka DJ Triple Dub first heard the Dub and Reggae songs of 70’s Punk legends The Clash. A family trip to Jamdown , with an accidental stop at Reggae Sunsplash on Dance Hall Night, and a pilgrimage to Bob Marley’s home fomented what would become a lifelong obsession with Reggae Music and the Dance Hall sounds that get people on their feet. dub grew up in a Jewish home. “The spiritual awakenings in Roots and Culture music activate me on a cellular level, connecting I with The Divine,” he proclaims, “and I really started collecting Reggae Music during the seven years I lived in Israel.
Ari landed in the remote BC Gulf Islands around the same time Canada’s Western Paradise was gifted with Sound System and DJ culture. He started spinning Dub and Reggae at sunrise to bring the Roots back to the beach after the long nights of heavy Techno. In 2006 the local Community Radio Station CJMP, in Powell River BC, was merely a skeleton of the vibrant creature it has become today. Triple Dub hopped on the airwaves with no training for a 3 hour Roots and Reggae Radio program called Bass Culture Radio.
“I did a 3 hour Friday Night Jamboree for 4 years, and spun Dance Hall for the laid back West Coast crowd on Saturday Nights at the now legendary Local Loco’s and other venues around the Coast.”
CJMP Community Radio is presently a growing concern gaining more and more support from the people of Powell River, and listeners abroad. As DJ Triple Dub, Ari hosts The Pow!Town GetDown airing Friday Nights from 8-10pm PST locally in Powell River, BC on 90.1FM, and Outernationally on the web at www.cjmp.ca
